BAPTISM PROCESS

We ask that anyone interested in being baptized complete this process to better understand the Biblical teachings on baptism and why it is such an important part of discipleship. You can expect to spend about 45 minutes watching the videos below and completing the form at the end. Plan to complete this more than one week before Celebration Sunday so we have time to confirm details and plans for your baptism.

It is important to answer the reflection questions as you go for deeper understanding. We also recommend inviting a spiritual leader in your life (and/or a parent) to walk through this process with you.

Watch Video 6: Defining the Relationship

7: Sharing Your Story
There may a video discussing this in the future.  At McCook Christian, a part of the baptism process involves filming short videos to show before your baptism.  These videos are an important opportunity to practice sharing your story with Jesus and we work to make it as painless as possible. We ask you to schedule a time to come in and have a conversation. The form you will complete includes prompts for writing out your story and is a good tool for considering what to talk about in your video.

While we believe these testimonies are powerful various reasons, we also understand they may be a barrier. As a result, while we ask everyone to film their story, we also offer the option to share your written testimony in its place.

How could God use your story to draw others closer to Him?

We encourage you to ask someone who was instrumental in your decision to be baptized. Almost anyone can baptize you if they have been baptized by immersion themselves. You can have more than one person do it and more than one person can be involved. If you have no preference, we can suggest a staff member or volunteer.

Sharing Your Story

Baptism includes a public confession of faith. As a part of this process, we ask that you take some time to consider your story with Jesus. As you saw in the video, we ask that you record a video of your story to share before your baptism. If it is ultimately decided not to utilize your video, we can instead share your written story. Below is a guide to help you prepare your story.
